Home Stretch

This has been a busy busy week. Thank you everyone who has been praying. Many, many people have been spoken too and received tracts. One day in heaven perhaps we will see the fruit of these 14 days in Latvia. In twelve hours it will be Sunday church again. At twelve noon we will be in the Russian church in Ogre.

After that we will pass out tracts in Ikskile. There will be a special festival drawing many Catholics to Ikskile.

They are gathering at the island which has the oldest church structure in the Baltics. Be praying as we hand out tracts to people there on Sunday afternoon(Saturday night your time). Sunday at 4 we will share the Word again in Ikskile along with testimony in our final church gathering. Finally we will pack, rest and leave Riga at 9pm Sunday night Ca. time. We will pass through Stockholm and Philadelphia on our way home.

Be praying for our ticketing which is standby to open on all flights. Thanks again for praying!!

Reaching Riga

Today we traveled to Riga the capital. After seven centuries of foreign domination, the Republic of Latvia (Latvijas Republika) is independent since 1991 and has been transforming herself into an economically dynamic democracy. The vehicle for this transforming is the capital Riga, the largest city

in the Baltic States. Of Latvia’s 2.350.000 inhabitants approx. 750.000 live in Riga. The city is located on both banks of the river Daugava which separates the city into two parts, Vecriga (Old Riga) and Pardaugava. Four bridges, one only for railway traffic, connect the banks.
Brenten, Dennis, Frank and Mitch took the train today along the Daugava river. The city of Ogre is on this river which runs all the way to the Baltic. We traveled for forty five minutes to meet our translators near the Opra house in Riga. Our mission today was to share God's love one on one with some of the thousands of Latvians and tourists wandering though old town Riga. As we walked through cobblestone streets some were willing to take time to talk. Personaly I spoke through a translator to a homeless lady. She allowed Sergei and I to pray for her.

Sunday fellowships

Thank you for everyone who responded in prayer for church on Sunday. We were in the Russian Baptist church in Ogre for the morning service. Brenten led in worship with others from Ogre. It was moving to hear songs we know, sung in Russian. The Word shared was from Colossians 3:1-4. We shared how we as Christians have died to this world and have been raised with Christ. The text applies this to our lives and challenges us to seek those things which are above where Christ is at the right hand of the Father. We are to put our minds on things above not things on earth. Our life now is hidden (secure) in Christ who one day soon will bring us home to be with Him.

Praise God a number of people asked for prayer as they sought to draw closer to God. In the afternoon we were in Ikskile where Frank and Mitch shared testimonies in our second church gathering of the day. In the river nearby Brenten baptized his son Caleb. A memorable day of ministry in Latvia.

Daily Open Doors

Only God opens doors and He is opening doors for His Truth here in Latvia. "And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles." Acts
